The South Point updated its college football Games of the Year odds with lines for 19 Big 10 and Notre Dame games. National title contender Ohio State leads the way favored in four games, including -8 over rival Michigan. # Big 10/Notre Dame 2018 Games of the Year __Sept. 8__ __Iowa State at Iowa -4 Opening Line: Iowa -7__ __Penn State -15 at Pittsburgh Opening Line: Penn State -14__ __Sept. 15__ __Ohio State -12 at TCU (Arlington, TX) Opening Line: Ohio State -12__ Ohio State is tied with Clemson as the second favorite (5/1) to win the national championship but this could be a tricky early-season test for the Buckeyes. TCU is expected to compete in the Big 12 and while the game is in Arlington, the Horned Frog fans will still be out in full-force. The fact that this is one of the few games not to see a line change suggests the number is tight. __Sept. 22__ __Wisconsin -7 at Iowa Opening Line: Wisconsin -5__ __Sept. 29__ __Stanford at Notre Dame -6 Opening Line: Notre Dame -8__ It's been documented that the South Point over-valued Notre Dame early on and this line is another indication. The Irish opened as over a touchdown favorite but has been bet down to -6. Any time a line moves over/under that 7-point number, it's significant. The Cardinal are 7-2 in their last nine games against the Irish. The two games Stanford lost were by seven and three points, so this line could be even lower at kickoff. __Ohio State -2.5 at Penn State Opening Line: Ohio State -1.5__ The Buckeyes came from behind to defeat Penn State 39-38 at home last season in a game that decided the Big 10's East division champion. This matchup will once again go a long way in determining who claims the Big 10 title and a potential berth in the College Football Playoffs. Penn State upset the Buckeyes 24-21 at home in 2016. The last two games between the two have been decided by four points. Expect the Buckeyes to end as a small road favorite unless one of these teams implodes early in the year. __Oct. 6__ __Nebraska at Wisconsin -16 Opening Line: Wisconsin -17__ __Oct. 13__ __Nebraska at Northwestern -5 Opening Line:Northwestern -6__ __Wisconsin at Michigan -3 Opening Line:Michigan -3__ This will be a huge game for Michigan and new quarterback Shea Patterson. If the Wolverines are going to make a run at a Big 10 title, they can't stumble at home against a tough Wisconsin squad. The Badgers have won three of the last four over Michigan. __Oct. 20__ __Michigan -1 at Michigan State Opening Line: Michigan State -1__ Michigan State is sliding under the radar but the Spartans are expected to be much-improved this season with 19 returning starters. Michigan State has had Michigan's number the past decade, going 8-2 against the Wolverines. East Lansing is always a tough place to play but bettors are high on Michigan this year. They moved from +1 to -1 since the lines came out in May. It's a tough two-game stretch for Michigan with Wisconsin and Michigan State in back-to-back weeks. __Nov. 3__ __Notre Dame -6 at Northwestern Opening Line: Notre Dame -7__ __Penn State at Michigan -3.5 Opening Line: Michigan -3.5__ This could be a huge game in the Big 10 if Michigan survives two weeks earlier at Michigan State and Penn State upsets Ohio State at home. The Nittany Lions lose running back Saquon Barkley but return eight starters on offense, including Heisman Trophy candidate Trace McSorley at quarterback. The Wolverines are just over a field goal favorite and it's hard to imagine either team being much more than that when the game comes around. __Nov. 10__ __Northwestern at Iowa -6.5 Opening Line: Iowa -7__ __Ohio State -7.5 at Michigan State Opening Line: Ohio State -6__ This is an interesting game if you're looking for value. Michigan State is still being under-valued a bit by bettors but the Spartans are expected to be much-improved after going 3-9 last year. [Michigan State returns more production](https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/1/31/16950222/2018-ncaa-football-returning-starters-experience) than any team in the nation. Ohio State went from -6 to -7.5 but Mark Dantonio rarely gets blown out at home. If things fall right for Michigan State in the first two months of the season, this game could be huge for both teams. __Wisconsin at Penn State -4.5 Opening Line: Penn State -4.5__ __Florida State at Notre Dame -7 Opening Line: Notre Dame -9__ A rematch of The Game of the Century that Notre Dame won 31-24 in 1993. Neither team is expected to be serious national title contenders in 2018 with both Notre Dame and FSU at 30/1 odds. Still, this is always a big game. Florida State could be rounding into form under new head coach Willie Taggart and the Irish will be playing for a major bowl berth if they can navigate through a tough early-season schedule. FSU has already been bet down from -9 but a touchdown still seems like a lot in this matchup. __Nov. 23__ __Nebraska at Iowa -5 Opening Line: Iowa -8__ __Nov. 24__ __Michigan at Ohio State -8 Opening Line: Ohio State -9__ If you believe in Patterson as the Michigan savior, then it makes sense to jump on this line early. Harbaugh consistently fields a top-ranked defense but poor quarterback play has been Michigan's downfall. If Patterson is the real deal and Michigan gets by tough games against Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan State, the Wolverines will have a lot on the line when they visit Columbus. __Notre Dame -1 at USC Opening Line: Notre Dame -1__2018-06-13T21:28:55.254Z2018-06-13T12:00-07:00
