As big a favorite as 11-time champ Joey Chestnut is, five-time defending champ Miki Sudo is even larger chalk in the women's Hot Dog Eating Contest on Thursday.
One of the strangest Fourth of July traditions, the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at New York’s Coney Island, is not open for betting in New Jersey. That's because the state's Division of Gaming Enforcement has prohibited its sportsbooks from accepting wagers on the event, a decision Major League Eating is [trying to get overturned](https://www.forbes.com/sites/zackjones/2019/06/29/major-league-eating-bites-back-as-nj-bans-betting-on-nathans-hot-dog-eating-contest/#2f47d323332e). There's no betting on the contest in Nevada, either.
Offshore shops, of course, *are* booking the Hot Dog Eating Contest, dealing [11-time winner](https://nathansfamous.com/hot-dog-eating-contest/hall-of-fame/) Joey Chestnut as the prohibitive favorite in the men's competition (Thursday, 11 a.m. CT, ESPN2).
BetOnline is offering a yes/no prop on Chestnut, pricing the competitive eating dynamo at 1/10 odds to win the event and 5/1 to finish second or worse.
The total number of hot dogs eaten by the winner is set at 73.5, with UNDER juiced as the -130 favorite. OVER (-110) bettors will need the winner to match or beat the record 74 dogs Chestnut put down last year at Coney Island.

As big a favorite Chestnut is, five-time defending champ Miki Sudo is even larger chalk in the women's contest (9:45 a.m. CT, ESPN3), with 'yes' listed at -1500 and 'no' +700 on the two-way prop. The total is 38.5 dogs for the women's winner, -120 vig each way.
Sudo has surpassed that total just once during her five-year run, when she ate 41 hot dogs in 2017. She fell a half-dog short of this year's betting total in 2015 and '16, and managed just 37 last year.
